Following up on last night, in somewhat unsuprising fashion, the defending champion in the other division is suing the Minnesota State High School League after they were threatened with expulsion from the state tournament, again for contact tracing caused by an opponent testing positive.

The suit includes affidavits from longtime NHL scout Fred Bandel and Roseau native and former University of Minnesota standout and NHLer Neal Broten.

Hockey parents are nuts. One year I wrote a (poorly reasoned) column getting on parents for conducting a coup and eliminating the coach. The flak was... interesting. As was the season opener the next year when a parent came up to me after said team won and said, “hey, what do you think about that coaching change now?” I think the new guy was run off after a season.

 

When I was coaching youth hockey I had a mom give it to me verbally, got personal. The dad would smile and wave manically at me when I was on the ice during practice.

Great couple.

Back to the dad in the snowbank with a broken leg .. we laughed, fucker deserved it.
