Rockies opening day always sells out. It's a big party in downtown, bars packed, streets jammed. They're allowing 22,000 in for games -- and plenty of tickets are still available.

First day of eligibility for me in SC. Managed to snag a spot for Moderna at a relatively nearby CVS for tomorrow, with the second shot on April 29. I see the sun coming over the horizon.

Every season since they began play, I have made it to at least one Predators game. That used to not sound all that impressive, but there’s a bit of distance now since 1998. Last year was cutting it close, but I did see them beat the Blue Jackets in OT on Feb. 22.

I was fully prepared to see that streak end this season. But 14 days after my last scheduled shot is Friday May 7. The next night is a sellout but I just got my ticket for the regular season finale on May 10. Still could get wiped out by a covid cancel, but at least I’ve got a chance now.

A friend and I have a tradition of going. Only missed one in like 11 years, not counting last year. I hadn't even thought about going. Never even considered it. He got a hold of me last night and was like, there are a bunch of tickets available! He actually hadn't thought about it either and his wife for some reason brought it up so he look. Anyway, he asked me if I wanted to go. I am busy with some family stuff anyway, but I'm probably avoiding stuff like that until I get the vaccine so I declined.

Who knows why there are tickets easily available, you usually have to be some sort of ticket plan holder or win a lottery to get them at face value, but COIVD and this past year is an obvious reason. Maybe returning to normal will take a bit of time. The Rockies ridiculous management has to play at least some role as well, I'd think. Bad combination!

    This is tremendous news!

Hopefully you were not a line jumper and had a true “qualification.” ;)

It will be interesting to see how crowded it gets downtown. Usually it's completely jam-packed. But they usually have the home opener on Fridays so that might change things a bit too. I used to hit every opening day as well when my friends were still living here (2004 to 2015, we never missed). But the ownership/front office is an issue as well.

Joe Sheehan and Rany Jazayerli were trying to figure out on Will Leitch’s podcast whether it was worse to be a Pirates or Rockies fan right now.I think they decided it’s the Rockies because they have to deal with the Dodgers for the next 10 years and maybe the Pirates have a GM who knows what he’s doing.

I thought about the Thursday thing too. All three issues are probably no good for overall excitement.

You go an entire year training people that there are many other (less costly, less time consuming, etc.) things to do, and it's hard to say what "normal" entails anymore. Many peoples' perspectives have shifted.

There was a post pre-NCAA tournament about the complete lack of buzz surrounding the NCAA Tournament.
There are posts today calling it the best tournament in many years.

    And both can be true.

There is a dedicated thread here about how people hope COVID 19 dooms sports for good.

I think anybody calling it the best in many years is simply excited because it is being played. The number of close games is below historical averages. The average scoring margin is higher. It’s not awful, but it’s not particularly great, either.
