I covered a 1-0 game where the winning run scored on a balk. It's baseball. Weird shit happens. But a run scoring on an infield out with a resulting RBI is not weird, it's routine.

Tony Kubek drove in the only run in Game 7 of the 1962 World Series on a bases-loaded DP. Think anyone worried whether it was a "quality" at- bat? The end result was, he got the only run of the game home from third.

BTW, Trout just gave the Angels the lead in the first with a ground ball that brought in Ohtani, who tripled. Trout beat it out, and it most definitely was a dribbler.

In the fifth inning. You think they wouldn’t have rather had a two-run single or bases-clearing double? Fuck, a sac fly would have been a better outcome.

Had I witnessed that in the moment, I would have considered it a wasted opportunity to break the game open.

I'm sure they would have. But they didn't. As it was they got a run, because the batter did his job and got the runner in from third, and that run won the game. I'm sure George Weiss probably swore at his computer and deducted some money from Kubek's Series check.

I feel this quote is apt:

Michael: Okay, you know what you do? You buy yourself a tape recorder, you just record yourself for a whole day. I think you’re going to be surprised at some of your phrasing.

In the fifth inning and with Ralph Terry (23-12) on the mound, I'd have been fine with that.

For me, it depends on the count at the time of the swing. If it's 0-2, I'd be afraid of a strikeout and double play combo. And when he hits into the DP, yeah, it's an immediate bummer. But then you realize the strikeout would have been more stressful. At least you've got something midway through an otherwise scoreless game with your ace on the hill.
