NC State-Houston happened with :02 left but they didn't stop the clock for buckets back then, so BRRRRRZT.

  3. Apparently the list is only:
    2021 Jalen Suggs
    2016 Kris Jenkins
    1983 Lorenzo Charles
1977 Jerome Whitehead Marquette vs. Charlotte in a semifinal

    Add:
1963 Vic Rouse Loyola Chicago, tip-in at buzzer to win title game

I literally don't have a clue but we do and the fine folks at M&W and every other dictionary in the English-speaking world agree so... I guess we are at an impasse. Literally?

Tonight’s game, Duke-Kentucky and Villanova have all been mentioned and in easy top 3.

I have personal attachment to Indiana-Syracuse in 1987. Wasn’t a buzzer-beater. But IU got some help when Boeheim was slow to call TO after Smart hit the go-ahead jumper.

By being ranked No. 1, the Zags would've gotten a NY6 bowl berth by virtue of being the top G5 representative, but they would've been sent to the kiddie table to play Oregon in Glendale.

Your reminder that there were three teams in college football that had any real argument that they had a shot at the national championship and two of the three got their asses kicked in the playoff.

Football and basketball are very different.

Minnesotans on the board might remember this one. Khalid El-Amin winning a state tourney game at the buzzer. Very similar to Suggs, right down to jumping on the table in the celebration. Also Khalid's team trailed so that added extra theatrics.

I had wondered about where the 1957 title game fit in the discussion of all time classics. Carolina! Kansas! Triple overtime! Then I looked at the line score and hard pass.

I think coaches lose sight of that sometimes. Those guys knew what they needed to do and just doing it was the best way.
