    That’s not a lucky shot.

I’ll bet folding money he’s heard that when you are dribbling full sprint, you shoot at the white square and don’t go for the swish. You naturally shoot the shot long because of the physics of the shot. Your momentum makes you back iron runners for this reason.

I would say that he can hit that shot 15-20% of the time. Maybe as low as 10%, but that’s a makable shot.

That’s why if that shot is practiced so much, why don’t players know how to defend it? Under five seconds, unless you are UVA, you are not passing that ball. One guy is going as fast as he can to get as close as he can to the basket. Beat him to the spot he is headed. Make him swerve, come up short, spin him. Make him alter what he is doing because altering it throws everything off. Just don’t stand there with your arms up doing nothing.

Oh, that UVA pass and shoot against Purdue was every bit as amazing as this shot, if not more.

I was an SID for five years and traveled with men's and women's basketball teams. I've watched a lot of practice. That type of shot is part of practice, just to prepare players for that type of situation. It wasn't a "lucky" shot. It was a result of taking that shot in practice, many times.

This is so obvious only a moron like Bayless wouldn't know it. I'll give odds Suggs and other Gonzaga (and UCLA) players used some of their court time at Lucas Oil to try and find their optimum spots for shots like that. I mean, I'm out now, and have been out for a decade and a half, but doesn't it bother people still in the gig that one of the richest, most famous people in it it both a complete asshole and someone who knows nothing about the subject he blows off on?

It bothers me. I cannot - and should not - speak for others, but that subhuman punk is a massive blight on sports journalism. He's not a sports journalist and has not been one for years, but how many people really know that?

You guys are wasting a lot of energy on Skip Bayless.

When a big event happens he asks himself what the most outlandish response would be, and he tweets it.

You don't have to play along.

Sam, all I can tell you is that while it was totally traumatic when it happened, and put me in a very bad spiral, now that I came out on the other side I'm damn glad I'm out, because I'd probably get fired three times a week. Older me just can't take the bullshit any more.

I hear you, PCLL. But, IMO, MG brought up a legitimate point and I responded. Others have chimed in, too. Doing so neither offers him validation nor makes him relevant.

If we make a thread that goes for hundreds of pages out of it, then I'll agree that we're wasting a lot of energy on it. Without a doubt, far too much.

But a couple of responses? It's a message board, right?

Damn, great women's final. Stanford holds on.

For all the talk about Geno Auriemma, maybe this will remind some that Tara VanDerveer is pretty good herself.

Terrible last couple of minutes. On the last possession, Arizona had no play called and then the tall player from Stanford, who had a nice double team, first reached and then didn’t put her hands in the air.

That last minute was painful to watch, though. WTF was Stanford's guard doing on its last possession? Dribble until there are four seconds left on the shot clock, then pass to a defended player 25 feet from the hoop?

Haha, wow. I was looking forward to the game, and I thought that was a tough watch.
