The quality of officiating in the women's tournament is just sad. It stinks compared to the men's tourney, which was no great shakes.

Probably more true than from me. Arizona's defense was pretty stout and dredged up the game. Arizona probably shouldn't have been within 10 points of Stanford.

I mean, she is one of the five best coaches ever in her sport.

I know I'm a bit late to this conversation, but pretty sure in the post game interview he said he practices it every day. I'm not a huge basketball guy but I have always known they do this. And if you watch any time a shot like this is taken at least more often than not it is close to going in.

They do practice last-second shots. He also said he hadn't been making them. And I guarantee he wasn't trying to bank it in.

He had a better chance of making it than the average person, but I'd bet even Suggs would admit it was a lucky shot.

That said, it was a GREAT shot.

And Skip's take that somehow winning with that shot makes the game not great (or somehow diminishes it in any way) is more than idiotic. He is one of the foremost buffoons in sports journalism history.

If that shot goes in to end a game featuring any two of UCLA, Duke, UNC, Kentucky, Kansas or Michigan State then Skip would already have land picked out for the commemorative statue.

Gonzaga-Baylor should be the most anticipated game of the season, but after Saturday night, the final feels like an anticlimax to me, no matter who wins.

Actually, the only other shot from Suggs range in that situation in that setting was probably Gordon Hayward's miss at the end of the title game against Duke, no?

This is why Bill Walton is so great. Can you imagine Laettner or Hurley reacting like this if Duke lost like that?
