There’s probably only one God if there is a deity. Otherwise there would be a war amongst the Gods. If man is made in the image of God than god has the flaws of man and is imperfect. Whatever you call God, it’s the same as the one anybody else in the Universe calls it. And every honest religion is an attempt to commune with the same God as every other religion in the infinite universe. Saying magic words written by man is nothing important to any deity.

Well the only religion God has chosen is Judaism. Jesus was instituting Judaism for the masses.

Honestly, I appreciate where you're coming from, but I'm really not sure what you're trying to say. When you write "God" do you mean, like, Yahweh/Adonai? Some God that people may refer to as that but is actually some other God over all religions outside the Abrahamic faiths, too?

 

If there is but a single deity across existence, it’s the same one for everyone. God is God, without regard to the name a human assigns it or 7 billion humans assign it. There is no One religion or correct religion. Any suggestion to contrary is hubris and oppressive.

A priest who rapes 100 little boys but confesses his sins on his death bed goes to heaven, but a Muslim fireman who dies rescuing 100 orphans goes to hell, according to Catholics. That’s not a religion, that’s a rape cult

 

OK. So the properties of God are universal and resistant to definition by mankind in the first paragraph, but that doesn’t stop you from providing some boundary in the second paragraph. Which, fine with me. But you’re still doing it.

religion is just the politics of one set of morality clothes as divine. It’s as if god spoke to Amber Doubleday and laid out the rules for baseball. There’s no divinity in baseball and religion.

 

I'd argue - people of all religions would - that there is a greater definition to it, and the existence of a greater definition - that being what God has revealed to us - impels the need.

I'd agree is God is...but God is something. Given your analogy about the priest and the fireman, you'd seem to think there's some definition, as well.

 

You seem to confuse religion with a sentient God. I don’t believe in a sentient God and religion is the single worst invention of man
