Wait, I thought they were "hugging and kissing" CP?

Isn't that what Trump said? Why would he lie.

It's not just MSP under curfew.

I live in a first ring burb about 15 minutes drive from the BCPD and we're under curfew as well.

    I absolutely share your frustration.

Unfortunately, this isn't about generating revenue for the DMV or the police department, the expired tags, rear mirror infraction, add them to the turn signal violation, etc., they are simply excuses to pull over someone they want to pull over because of their "suspicious" look/actions, whatever, (or simply racial profiling). They can't stop someone because they "look suspicious" but if there are what appear to be expired tags? Aha!!! Magic card to "light 'em up" and "let's see what else we got here." Its in every police playbook. Why wait for the REAL reason you want to pull them over when you can pick this mickey mouse reason and go from there? They just need SOME reason.

This is classic escalation, not de-escalation. All in the name of "protect and serve."

Yes, expired tags (or in the recent Lieut. incident, missing plate) should never end in an unarmed death or even pepper spray.

Actually, they didn't accept or train for the job under those circumstances.

Fair, but they did train for and accept a job that puts their lives in danger on a daily basis (which you know is what I meant, but I admit to the imprecise wording I used). It’s why we honor and respect them.

If the risk is too great, the officers can quit and find a new profession. They should not, however, be under the impression that they can mitigate their risk by using lethal force as a first resort.
