Yeah, he does, but when he was strung out, he didn't look good at all. Also, it is quite possible Cruz is TRYING to look like Waylon, or at least what he thinks Waylon looked like.

If true, this is a colossal failure of the Trump administration’s intelligence community.

It was a blockbuster story about Russia’s return to the imperial “Great Game” in Afghanistan. The Kremlin had spread money around the longtime central Asian battlefield for militants to kill remaining U.S. forces. It sparked a massive outcry from Democrats and their #resistance amplifiers about the treasonous Russian puppet in the White House whose admiration for Vladimir Putin had endangered American troops.

But on Thursday, the Biden administration announced that U.S. intelligence only had “low to moderate” confidence in the story after all. Translated from the jargon of spyworld, that means the intelligence agencies have found the story is, at best, unproven—and possibly untrue.

“The United States intelligence community assesses with low to moderate confidence that Russian intelligence officers sought to encourage Taliban attacks U.S. and coalition personnel in Afghanistan in 2019 and perhaps earlier,” a senior administration official said. …

According to the officials on Thursday’s call, the reporting about the alleged “bounties” came from “detainee reporting” – raising the specter that someone told their U.S.-aligned Afghan jailers what they thought was necessary to get out of a cage. Specifically, the official cited “information and evidence of connections to criminal agents in Afghanistan and elements of the Russian government” as sources for the intelligence community’s assessment.

Without additional corroboration, such reporting is notoriously unreliable. Detainee reporting from a man known as Ibn Shaikh al-Libi, extracted from torture, infamously and bogusly fueled a Bush administration claim, used to invade Iraq, about Saddam Hussein training al-Qaeda to make poison gas.

The senior Biden official added on Thursday that the “difficult operating environment in Afghanistan” complicated U.S. efforts to confirm what amounts to a rumor.

I'm putting this here because I'm thinking out loud about the state of things and not the racial component that seems to be tipping point at the moment (but it could be anything these days). I'm thinking more about effect than cause.

It seems every time something happens - cop shoots someone in Minnesota, guy pushes a dude in S.C. - their homes or places of business are immediately surrounded by a mob. It's not going to be long before either/and the mob drags someone out and does something or seriously destroys property or the person inside comes out like John Rambo with an M-60. Neither of those are going to be the logical conclusion; they will just be the next step, and the step after that will be even worse.
How much time and resources are being spent on round-the-clock security is being spent when someone's address shows up on twitter within 5 minutes? How bad would it have been last year in St. Louis if Bonnie and Clyde had decided to open up on the people instead of just looking drunkenly stupid?

To quote Fred Thompson in Red October: "This business will get out of control, and we'll be lucky to live through it."

You think the intel came from Trump appointees?

Trump and his people weren't pushing this. Trump called it "fake news." Weirdly, for once, he was kind of right.

‘A lot of people said it’s a fake issue’: Trump confirms he didn’t raise Russian bounties with Putin

The Trump era included all kinds of Russia-related intelligence fever dreams that made serious print and broadcast outlets. It was an embarrassment.

I always thought Cruz looked like Spike (from Rugrats for those of you who did not spend time with children in the 90s) or a disappointed dachshund.

Let's look at Ted Cruz in Texas
With Abbott and Hawley and the boys
This MAGA troll life they're livin'
Got us feuding like the Hatfields and McCoys
Between Ted Nugent's same songs and
Chachi's instagram and pillow man insane
For bearded Ted Cruz in Texas should be feelin' some pain

So baby, let's dissemble about Cancun
Buy some suits and red ties and go on tv
This vote and cry is bugging me
In your high society, you lie all day
You've been so busy keepin' up with the Trumps
Two impeachments and we're still adding on
Maybe it's time we got back to the basics of governing

    People, this has to stop.

I spent many many many hours with the Rugrats on during their prime.

    Spike deserves better.

Ted is the slime oozing out from our tv sets / zappa

Please refrain from all other comparison, especially icons such as Waylon and Spike.

    I thank you.

It was a bigger embarrassment we had a president who 1) did plenty to make those things seem possible 2) never once said "Hey, FBI, I'm uncomfortable with all these Russians offering to help, and 3) Lied about everything, so when he did protest we had no reason to believe him.

Why oh why was Comrade Manafort so hell-bent that Jeezus Boy Pence must be installed into the VP slot on the ticket?? Perhaps some of his special friends felt it was particularly important?
