A lot of what you're seeing in Minnesota is the classic white liberal's dilemma. Jacob Frey (the mayor of Mpls.) is the poster boy for it, while Walz is a little behind.

The problem is this. On one side, the activist community is demanding total structural abolish-the-police kind of change. On the other Bob Kroll and his blue ilk say, "Fuck your change and fuck you" to even changing the brand of pens they use at the station. So because due to the police union, or in Walz's case because the GOP has a majority in the state Senate, the only option they have it to make all-talk programs and passionate speeches with fancy words and annoying pauses for emphasis. And then when they don't reform anything because they can't, the folks to their left start looting mini-malls and the white moderates from out of town for whom police violence is an abstract concept they read about in the Strib think Walz and Frey are coddling criminals.

As mentioned previously, Walz knows that containing civil unrest is the easier problem to fix than reforming the police, because he doesn't need to convince some idiot farmer from Hutch, or his grim handlers in the Senate GOP leadership, to take the problem seriously. The verdict in the Chauvin trial could come down as early as next week. Walz et. al. attempted to establish a fund to ensure agencies that show up to provide backup get paid and the state Senate GOP basically told him to fuck off because idiot farmer in Hutch isn't gonna pay Minneapolis to fix their shit even though the Cities has more economic output than the rest of the state combined.

The meeting could be short and sweet if Walz wants it to be: "Don't beat up, pepper-spray or detain journalists who are clearly identified. If you do, that security guard job at an office building is waiting for you."
    End of meeting.

    Cop excuses for shooting people:

    "The suspect ran/drove away."
(Big fucking deal. At this point, common sense should tell you to let him go, especially if he was stopped for a traffic issue like Daunte Williams, or another non-violent reason. Is it really worth it to fire away when you know your whole life will change, such as getting fired, charged with a crime, convicted?)

"I was in a high-crime area and was nervous."
(You're a pussy. Go work in dispatch).

"We had to handcuff the suspect because he was a big [re, black] guy."
(Again, you're a pussy. I also notice it takes three of you to subdue a skinny-ass 19 year old).

    "He had an outstanding warrant."
(90 percent of those are bullshit NTAs, which cops paper the hood with to get people in the system. Then, voila! The courts have an excuse to issue warrants.)

    "He was acting belligerent."
(Yeah? How belligerent is a knee to your neck for nine minutes?)

They’re doing great work to disprove my “cops are dumb” hypothesis.

Yeah, Walz should just shut the fuck up and let law enforcement do their thing.

Watch the video of this guy driving off with the officer's arm trapped in the driver's side window, it's out there on YouTube

Driver didn't want to wear a mask and took a piece of lumber to those who asked him to comply.

Hutchinson man charged in attacks on Menards employee, police officer

The officer then got up on the vehicle's running board and reached through the driver's side window.

Oeltjenbruns "grabbed Officer Sickmann's right arm and closed the window on it, trapping Officer Sickmann's arm," according to the complaint.

Oeltjenbruns then drove into a squad car and continued to bash his truck into squad cars until Sickmann was able to break free.

At that point, Oeltjenbruns turned onto the highway, again heading north. When his vehicle was blocked off at S. Grade Road, Sickmann took a rescue hammer and tried to break open Oeltjenbruns' vehicle window. Oeltjenbruns took the hammer from the officer and hit him on the head with it.

    This week in Minnesota.

As I said, it can be this simple.
