Very happy to see Lydia Ko get into the winners circle again. She's won 2 majors and 16 times now and she's only 24. Hope she can add some more majors again. This with a a 3 yr drought too.

An interesting new wrinkle from the PGA Tour, a few extra million bucks for the top guys for "moving the needle":

PGA Tour bonus program to reward player impact

Looks like for the most part that the top players will just get richer; I don't know if someone like Max Homa could tweet his way into the top 10 and get paid. Or maybe he can. Rickie Fowler will likely grab the cash for a while no matter how poorly he plays with all his commercials and name recognition. On the flip side, could Patrick Reed get a piece of this as golf's black hat? Cheating scandals move the needle too.

Tiger Woods could buy roughly 926,999 Hearty Man's Combo Platters at Perkins ($7.99 plus 8% tax) for the $8 million he'll get from the PGA Tour as an "influencer."

That's 1,569 calories per serving -- or a total of 1,454,461,181.92 calories in all.

Somebody cue up Warrant's "Cherry Pie."

Every one of those guys are richer for having Tiger Woods on the PGA Tour -- just like previous generations benefited from Jack and Arnie. Just look at The Players Championship purse, which the Tour keeps inflated to be the richest in golf. In the 1996 Players, four months before Tiger turned pro, Fred Couples got $630,000 and the purse was $3.5 million. Justin Thomas got $2.7 million this year, out of a $15 million purse. Yeah, the stars are richer, but so are the schlubs. I know a guy in our area who played on the Korn Ferry Tour for 6-7 years, had one cup of coffee on the PGA Tour, but because he had a steady diet of 40th place finishes on the money list, he had enough to buy a crib in a gated community for about $800K.

Not saying $$ is easy but is that all $800 k down or $160? Still a lot of course but difference.

Clearly they’ll need to see if there’s any money left after first paying Scott Piercy

Total shitshow in Baton Rouge for one of the NCAA Women's Regionals, where officials cancel the regional after heavy rain. They say, it's playable, but "not at a championship level." Top six seeds and top three unattached individuals advance. The ladies, as you might suspect, are not pleased.

Is the dude's daughter one of the top six seeds?

The PGA bonus thing makes sense - might also encourage a few players to play some of the tournaments that are typically "off-weeks" and suffer at the gate.
