And this is why the GOP remains irrelevant in California. Has there been a serious candidate for the statehouse since Wilson was termed out in the 90s? I'm not counting Schwarzeneeger since he came into office via the recall of Davis. They ran a Trumpista against Newsom last time ... do they really think a Trumpista will win?

 

I'm not sure that enough Republicans will vote for a trans woman for Jenner to reach the general in the first place.

Her silence during the trans legislation sweeping the south in Republican legislatures really makes me question Jenner's "activist" bonafides. She seemed pretty quiet during the bathroom bills as well. Nor has she been outspoken about violence against trans people. Other than possibly getting another reality show out of it, I don't understand the motivation.

 

There is no primary/general setup. One election with two questions. It’s the Royal Rumble of politics.

1. Should Gavin Newsome be recalled? Yes or no.
2. If “Yes” prevails in No. 1, which of these (11 billion) people do you vote for to be governor? (Note that Newsome will be one of the choices and can still get back in even if Yes wins at the top of the ballot.) Highest vote total wins, no runoff.

Well, that’s one way to take the teeth out of it, although somebody should have fixed the grammar before posting it.

 

Of all of the unbelievably moronic things which Trump did, denying and downplaying COVID because he thought that it would personally make him look bad is number one with a bullet. The lack of preparation, the overpromising, the mixed messages, the reliance on snake oils cures and treatments all in the name of satisfying his ego.

He has poisoned 30 percent of the country to deny the science and to not get the vaccine, despite the fact that he was hospitalized and then later took the vaccine! And then to the extent he ever communicates on the matter, it is to take credit all for himself.
