I thought conservatives were supposed to be opposed to frivolous lawsuits.

Conservatives oppose everything they don’t like. They hate adultery when democrats do it but ignore it when republicans do it. They hated Barney Frank for being gay but love Lindsey Graham.

Another reason athletic scholarships should be awarded for a 4 or 5 year commitment. Only the student should be able to break the commitment. The school can expel a student athlete for the same reasons they expel a student non-athlete. She’s a young person who makes mistakes, maybe. Needs to be educated. Maybe her teammates and the school need to be more open to other ideas.

Like that black lives don't matter?

    She didn’t say that.
But if Liberty kicked off for saying Gay Lives Matter would you be on the side of the school because it brought disharmony to the team or the student-athlete because you believe in the message?

Some opinions are abhorrent to hold publicly, though the Christian Conservatives seem to be pushing that, and shouldn’t be tolerated. But the overwhelming majority of opinions expressed shouldn’t result in harm to the speaker. And when that speaker is a young person, it seems like bullying.

What non-racist reasons could there be for thinking there's something nefarious about Black Lives Matter?

I do think there should be a willingness to listen to people who have contrarian ideas, in good faith. There is a reason kids do stupid things. It's because they're often stupid.

The Milos and the Ben Shapiros of the world can go pound sand, though.

It's the same with the "I won't watch the Oscars because they're too political crowd." It's not that they're political, it's that views are given that they don't agree with. If the honorees spoke in favor of racism and homophobia, they would love awards shows.

The thing is, I don't think this is one of those reasonable people of good conscience can disagree kind of things.

Should taxes be higher or lower is a political opinion. This is a matter of morality.

And anyone who thinks people protesting white supemacy are just as bad as white supremacists is racist.

There’s a distinction and a difference between knowing and saying that black lives matter and the organization of Black Lives Matter. She may not know there is no BLM organization just like ANTIFA is a movement but not an organization. So we cut many people slack for saying the wrong thing. How many profession adult athletes have said stupid and ignorant things about homosexuality? Yet they were merely corrected. Wasn’t there some famous player who used the word fag on the court?

I’m a civil libertarian but don’t always agree with the ACLU.

What could possibly be nefarious about Black Lives Matter?

The same thing that people perceived as nefarious about the Black Panthers. There’s a perception that BLM uses violence to achieve its goals. That perception is part of the right wing propaganda machine and is largely uncontradicted by professional journalists and objective media.
