We really gonna float it out there on a journalism board that the schlub writing headlines, even A1 at a prominent metro, is dialing in to Big Media Conspiracy HQ every day to get their marching orders?

Depends on how Mary and Kevin feel about the vaccines.

I feel like if they were on Team It’s All A Hoax that cases/death count ticker wouldn’t be at the top of the page.

Not at all. It's just something that appears . . . the normal thing to do after a while. This place never had any "marching orders," but the posts took such a negative turn that anyone daring to post something positive risked rebuke.

That was more than a "schlub writing a headline." It was the decision to write the story. The decision to give it prominence. And finally, the decision to sign off on everything. On April 20, 2021, for crying out loud, with the US kicking ass in vaccinations and the 7-day COVID death number average at a level one-fifth of what it was three months ago.

"VACCINATIONS DON'T WORK" --- yeah, that will really convince people on the fence to get jabbed.

It's another piece in a 10,000-piece puzzle that shows where our media mindset is WRT this. Refusal to at least acknowledge its existence is just willful ignorance at this stage.

India undercounting deaths by a whole bunch.

As Covid-19 Devastates India, Deaths Go Undercounted

“It’s a complete massacre of data,” said Bhramar Mukherjee, an epidemiologist at the University of Michigan who has been following India closely. “From all the modeling we’ve done, we believe the true number of deaths is two to five times what is being reported.”

At one of the large cremation grounds in Ahmedabad, a city in the western Indian state of Gujarat, bright orange fires light up the night sky, burning 24 hours a day, like an industrial plant that never shuts down. Suresh Bhai, a worker there, said he had never seen such a never-ending assembly line of death.

But he has not been writing down the cause of death as Covid-19 on the thin paper slips that he hands over to the mournful families, even though the number of dead is surging along with the virus.

“Sickness, sickness, sickness,” Mr. Suresh said. “That’s what we write.”

When asked why, he said it was what he had been instructed to do by his bosses, who did not respond to requests for comment.

You don't need a vaccine in St. Louis to be protected from the China virus. You've got these two:

Probably the fastest way to increase vaccine uptake in Real Murcia is to announce we’re shipping our stockpiles overseas. Be fun to watch the Fox and OAN tickers do a 180.

St. Louis County's population is 1/3 of the St. Louis metro area. The city of St. Louis makes up only 1/3 of the county's population, and only about 10% of the entire metro area's population. St. Louis County, outside of the city proper, obviously went for Trump, if Biden's MOV dipped from 65% in the city proper to only 24% in the county as a whole.

St. Charles, Jefferson and Franklin counties - where most of the P-D's readers are - went for Trump by at least 57-43. The Post-Dispatch is the state newspaper. The state voted 56-41 for Trump, with only three counties going for Biden.

So yes, I'm shocked that a Missouri paper, even one that used to have an outstanding reputation, would negatively portray a vaccine story.

OTOH, I completely agree with you regarding this:

That was more than a "schlub writing a headline." It was the decision to write the story. The decision to give it prominence. And finally, the decision to sign off on everything. No. Saint Louis is an independent city so it’s population is not counted in the county’s total. Same way Richmond is not part of Henrico County.

OK, did not know that. That story and headline were still a blatant dog whistle to the anti-vaxxer, Trump crowd, just like BTE said. Front-page stories with "WWII ends" style headlines don't magically appear out of nowhere.

Good. The blood of countless thousands of deaths is on the Subhuman Pile of Crime. Let's not pretend that some of it isn't on Birx's hands.
