The most Canadian song ever

Man, Bullwinkle really let himself go.

 

The Sabres play the Canadian and US anthems before every game (or at least they did). In my day, it was performed by "tenor Joe Byron," and fans were encouraged to sing along. I loved it when everyone extended the "s" in "glorious and free" so it sounded "gloriousssss and free."

The Canadian anthem is outstanding.

Lightfoot had some inspired Canadian-themed songs. Of course "Canadian Railroad Trilogy," the best thing he ever did, but "Alberta Bound," "Cabaret" and "Mountains and Marian" are super too.

 

Buffalo still does. They are the reason the NHL regular season is *not* entirely single anthem games this year.

Buffalo is playing both anthems this season. With no cross border games, every other game this season is only the home anthem.

I remember in Game 7 of the ‘06 Finals against the Hurricanes, Carolina did the same thing as the home team to counter the Oilers’ luck.
