This is turning into Bad Reporting Day on several unrelated fronts.

Barkley's actually a pretty big hockey fan.

This is very logical. Turner will show the NHL on the nights ESPN has the NBA and vice versa.

How much of this is "WE MUST BE FIRST!" and not double-checking on facts and how much is just bad reporting?

Bob McKenzie is by far the best in the biz, it’s not close and he’s semi retired.

There's no touch of irony at all that Atlanta-based Turner Sports lands part of the NHL deal. AOL/TimeWarner owned the Thrashers for a time, and tried to entice company employees with ticket vouchers. I was able to scoop up most of the ones given to NASCAR.com co-workers because they had zero interest in it. Obviously, the rest of the metro had the same feeling.

Atlanta: Providing quality NHL franchises to western Canadian cities since 1972.

My guess is all of the production and studio work will be done in New York.

They did the same for radio affiliates, including the 1000-watt AM in Rome whose owner was friendly with the sports staff at our paper. Apparently myself and one other sports desker were the only takers. We could have had the functional equivalent of season tickets if we had the free time and inclination to drive downtown 41 nights a year.

They haven't ditched the Premier League. This is the last season of the current deal, and I imagine they're very interested in getting back in, as the product is really good and actually drives people to Peacock.

So does this mean we have to know what channel CourtTV is for the Stanley Cup playoffs?
