    I would be fine with the Bears trading up for Lance or Fields. Not Jones.

    Given that first-round picks are supposed to be the most talented players, I’d say that’s a great percentage for the lower rounds.

    Thing is, most QBs drafted after the first round are taken as backups or “developmental” players — basically a gamble that might pan out (but more likely won’t) — whereas first-rounders are expected to be stars, or at least long-term starters.

    And BTW, the hit rate on first-round QBs hasn’t been all that good over the years, either.

    Are we agreed that it will be at least odd if the third pick in the draft is considered less than elite in both “arm talent” and athleticism?

    So trust in guy who adores Cousins, Beatherd, Mullens and passed on Mahomes and Watson. And kept Beatherd for 4 yrs!!
