I have noticed some new nomenclature this year. In many draft evaluation sites, certain players are no longer Defensive Ends; they are known as Edge and are abbreviated ED.

College defenses are producing a lot of guys who are 6'8" DE/LB hybrids that play a lot of two point stance. I imagine that's what they're calling "Edge".

Far be it from me to stan a Bammer but Mac Jones logged a 203 QB Rating thanks to a 77% completion average and 41 TDs last season, in going undefeated and winning an NC.

Sure, he was surrounded by NFL talent...but, I'm thinking he'll again be surrounded by NFL talent when, you know, HE PLAYS IN THE NFL!

If I'm a Niners fan, I'll be thrilled to see Jones drafted.

The issue isn't that he was surrounded by NFL talent. It is that he was surrounded by talent that was vastly superior to most of the competition he faced. He won't have that advantage in the NFL.

Joe Burrow had that last year, too, but there are significant differences. Burrow's numbers at LSU in 2019 were even better than those of Jones at Alabama in 2020. Burrow is also more physically gifted. He was a threat as a runner in college. Jones was not. Burrow also has far better arm talent.

    Burrow's not in this draft!

I get that the NFL probably wants to goose ratings and teams want to reserve the right to change their minds etc. so they don't declare their intentions - but I have a hard time believing SF hasn't locked in on their pick at this point. Of course, they could draft someone who dies immediately after the draft.

Kyle Shanahan takes morbid turn to deflect question on Jimmy Garoppolo's future

I think people are trying to talk themselves into Jones being either Burrow or Brady. I explained the comparison to Burrow and why it doesn't fully hold up. Brady is another quarterback whose measurables weren't great, but trying to find the next one like him is foolish at best.

The Bears will trade up to draft Kyle Trask. I have never been more sure of anything.

He'll also be facing NFL talent at every defensive position which he wasn't while in college.

The pick is either going to get Shanahan a Super Bowl ring or a pink slip.

This is true of every QB who's ever been drafted in NHL history. It's kind of a mindless cop-out. If you don't think Jones has All-Pro talent (and if the Niners take him at three, that's their bet), then just say so.

If none of the top five falls past the top 15, I could see some team reach and take Trask late in Round 1. I just hope it isn't the Steelers.
