For Lions fans, the draft is their Super Bowl
It’s a time of hope, which usually gets dashed immediately
My favorite Lions draft moment came in 2005, smack in the middle of the Matt Millen regime
The Lions had the 10th pick and stunned everyone by taking Big Mike Williams, the Southern Cal receiver who had sat out the previous season
This was after taking Charles Rogers in 2002 and Roy Williams in 2004
Steve Mariucci, the Lions coach at the time, said Mike Williams was gone by the 10th pick in every mock draft they did
Not only was Williams a bust, but the next pick went to the Cowboys, who took a guy named DeMarcus Ware
When the pick was made, ESPN cut to Williams, who was sitting in the bleachers at his high school gym in Tampa, surrounded by a bunch of children
When Williams heard the news, he started clapping and staring off into space, with a look that said: “What the HELL have I gotten myself into?”
    THAT’s why they’re the Lions

I suppose it's because the rest of the league has listened to me when I said Fields is Sam Darnold 2.0.

You know, there's an old blackjack saying about standing on 17, and Shanahan seems not to have heard it. Also, his name is hard to spell, but it's one r, two p's.

He's had one healthy year out of four. Hell, you could even say one out of five, since he missed time in New England before they traded him, and that's why they had to play Jacoby Brissett. I don't think you need any more reason to move on from Jimmy G. besides the number in the "games played" column.

I think Shanahan believes he would be standing on 9.

I can pretty much guarantee if the Bears select a QB this year they will be looking for the next QB of the future within three years.

Where’s Vince Evans now that you need him?

John Elway couldn't figure out how to draft a qb. John Freaking Elway.

If Elway couldn't do it, how is Ryan Pace supposed to?

Yeah but you haven't given away the 1st rounders for the next two years yet, so you've still got a shot in the next couple of years.

I would love Lance or Fields. But I’d be fucking stunned if Pace pulled it off. Any of the other QBs can piss up a rope in round 1.
