2021 MLB Regular Season thread

Danley has left at least three other games over the years after being hit in the mask with foul balls. This one looks like it was just a glancing blow, and that was the result.

 

Al leiter struck out 32 batters in a 13 inning high school game and his opposition, john spinapont (I went to school with him) struck out 18 in a game that was called at that point when a downpour hit.
we all know leiter. Spinapont went on to pitch for brookdale community college (a cc with a pretty good reputation back in the day and a legendary coach named Paul McLaughlin - Denny walling played there) but I don’t know if he ever went further.

That’s just asinine. I mean your only argument is what if the first baseman tripped and fell or missed the bag with his foot and the pitcher getting in the way would have prevented the runner from taking advantage of the mistake. That’s all I got and that’s a terrible justification. Unless the rule is so strict that even something as asinine as that is called but even then, ump has to read the room. Good god.
