    Wow.

I joined this forum in 2007 when I had big aspirations for wanting to become a sportswriter. I was just a kid in high school, and now I'm a 30-year-old kid with more gray hairs than I know what to do with! I posted a few aspirational 'pieces' for feedback in 2007, and then in 2010 I acted like a clown in a different thread (I'm sorry). I always appreciated the feedback that I received and never forgot about this forum.

I never became a sports journalist. In 2011, I just lost my drive to want to go forth with it. I went from wanting to do that to, eventually, developing a massive passion for barbecue and -- well -- that's what I do these days: sling barbecue and love every minute of it.

I still enjoy writing for fun in general. The quality bounces around I'm sure! I can't stand proofreading and it's all over the place, but it allows me to empty my overactive mind.

I know this is a pointless self-serving thread from a member who posted less than 25 times over a decade ago, but I wanted to say thank you to the members (if the same ones are active) that gave me feedback when I was giving it the ol' 'college try' years ago. Sports have changed so much, at least in the realm of sports journalism. Hey, at least my Rams of the NFL are viable these days, unlike back then.

Curious here, too. Competitive BBQ is practically a sport in Memphis.

Imagine being gone 10 years only to log in and discover we're still talking about how much Journey sucks.

Yeah, seriously... what kind of barbecue?
Don't bring in none of that nasty Alabama white sauce crap or mustard based from the lesser Carolina.
If it's not Eastern NC, Lexington, or Memphis, we'll see you in 10 years.

Sheeut. East Tennesseans think barbecue is just another flavor of potato chip.

Um, there’s this other city on the Kansas/Missouri border that has tremendous barbecue. And honestly, it destroys Memphis and East Carolina. Never had Lexington.

Just being able to recall a long forgotten password from ten years ago to sign back in probably qualifies for near mensa level ranking among the sj.com clientele.
