The question is not if Lamar Jackson can lead the Ravens to a Super Bowl. The question is if he can do so once he is signed up for 10x his current salary cap hit and the team has to compromise with weaker players at multiple other positions.

Oh, come on. Either quarterback is the most important position on the team or it's not. Jackson replaced Super Bowl winner Joe Flacco (I'd love to know what deal with the devil he made around Christmas 2011) and the Ravens have made the playoffs with him on a consistent basis. Now, you are advising they throw him into the discard pool and draw for another QB. The odds that a free agent pickup or a new high draft choice will be as productive as Jackson are so high as to be prohibitive. It's possible the Ravens, who are bold, would do that. But they are hitting on 16, no, 17.

Per at least one Twitterer, it's 3 #1's.

The part of the Rodgers thing, which I am desperately trying to avoid because I hate the NFL offseason, that makes no sense to me is ... why does Aaron Rodgers get to decide whether or not he's going to honor a contract? I mean, you could obviously say that's never bound any of the 32 NFL teams before and you'd be right, but is the risk that he 'retires'? This isn't even a Le'Veon Bell franchise tag situation here.

The Ravens went 7-1 against crossover opponents last year, including the NFC East. That's not happening again in 2020 with the AFC West and NFC North, I assure you.

He's the MVP. He's got leverage, and not for the first time in league history, he's using it. Last Hall of Famer to do that was Brady. That didn't lessen Rodgers' leverage.
PS: Trey Lance is rocking a Stevie Wonder lookalike thing here.

Mark was a great interview (when he'd talk) back in my day, but I wouldn't rate him as a top-flight source.

I have done no such thing. But even broaching the possibility it could happen is treated like taking a dump on the altar. Things change, and the pace of change seems to be accelerating. Who saw the Eagles selling off Wentz for spare parts prior to last year’s draft?
