You’d have issue with swapping out the seats on that short of notice. I’d think in a best-case scenario it might take an hour to make tweaks to the cockpit. Also I doubt Danny Hamlin’s crew chief is going to want to see Chase Elliot win while driving Denny’s car.

    Here's a crazy idea:
Lay on a fleet of evenly prepared cars and let them race!

I don't think manufacturers or sponsors would be particularly pleased. But I'd support ANYTHING to make that watchable again.

Honestly, if everyone races, how can it be an "all-star" event? It really should be a top 12 IROC type deal. The original idea was for only the previous season's race winners. And of course, NASCAR had to screw that up.

And the sadder thing: If they ran an "old-timers race," inviting all retired Cup champions, it'd be more interesting and probably draw a larger audience than a bunch of guys named Eric/Erik/Aric.

Heck, give them enough time to put some of their own sponsor wraps/decals at designated locations on the car. It could be done in 15 minutes. You could even slap a manufacturer badge on the nose no matter what the actual car is. It's not like they are stock cars, anyway.

What about if they started putting legends in the Legends cars again? Charlie G. got hurt in one of those old-timers races at Bristol. I remember IRP briefly had an old-timers series that might’ve been part of Thursday Thunder. They had some F1 guys like Phil Hill, too.

The 16 cars that made the previous year's Chase should be automatically qualified for the All-Star Race.

Then run four 30-lap qualifying races with the remaining cars (random draw for each), with each winner making the race. Then run a 30-lap "last chance" race for the 21st spot.

Now you're got a 21-car field for a 100-lapper (NO STAGES). And force teams to pit at least once under green.

Everyone ready for the Buschy McBusch 400?

Even for NASCAR, that has to be a top ten finish for silliest race sponsorship name.

Had that terrible accident at Talladega in 2012 that I really don't believe his brain ever fully recovered from (and NASCAR downplayed his injury the whole time, IMO). Kidney failure the next season. SEVEN daughters, all with names beginning with M. His house was destroyed by a tornado. Wound up with a domestic violence arrest.

A lot of things packed into a life taken way too young. RIP.
