The Rangers could have cut the gap to 3 points behind the Islanders last night, with another game coming up against them tomorrow.

    Instead, they didn't show up.

Just frustrating to watch. I just wanted it to be interesting. Right from the drop of the puck, one team was playing with urgency, the other was passive and getting badly outskated.

That Islanders team is not the most talented or fastest, but they are well coached, and defensively they stifle you. They are built for the playoffs. If they get a lead, they make the game uglier and uglier and run out the clock. Whoever plays them needs to jump out in front of them early, because they are a completely different team when they are playing from behind.

Twice in one week, Center Ice. Given the premium price, the least you can do is offer the game you claim you're going to live as they're actually being played.

Funnier still, they're one of the better teams in the league this season. No, I know it's not a vendetta against the organization, but it's a horrible look, folks. Might want to actually fulfill what you claim you're going to do, Center Ice.

Guess who kicked the analytics into overdrive in Raleigh? (Hint: It was neither Tom Dundon nor Don Waddell). Now do you better understand why I said he hasn't been given enough credit?

Oh I know. I would love the Canucks to poach him, but I’m sure they’ll stick with the dumbest
    man in hockey.

I am most definitely not a Ranger fan, but what is this guy's major malfunction?

Also, interesting comments from former enforcer Colton Orr, filtered through Steve Valiquette:

It was just brutal to watch. He had gotten a roughing penalty earlier that led to a goal, and he was upset and started acted out then. His body language was getting more and more juvenile leading up to this.

The Rangers don't have an enforcer on the roster, and the closest things they might have had would have been Jacob Trouba and Chris Kreider, who are both big guys, but were sitting out with injuries. Ryan Lindgren was out injured, too. Not the biggest guy, but will fight. So the Rangers were even easier pickings for a psychopath like Wilson. Panarin never came back.

What does Wilson have to do for the NHL to finally say they don’t need him playing anymore?

And could the Caps and Ovie get a leash on this guy?

Does he literally need to end a players career? Two? Three? Where’s the line?

Speaking as a Caps fan, I'm utterly sick of his bullshit. He's talented, and he does the Caps zero good sitting out suspended, which he will be for the rest of the regular season, at least. He actively hurts his own team with this crap. At least Sprong has proven to be a pretty damn good player and can slot in at that right wing spot on the first line if need be.

This seems like a watershed moment - I've never seen so many caps fans saying, "OK - enough is enough."

I was actually fine with the Panarin bodyslam -- Bread Man has to know what he's getting into when he tangles with an enraged Wilson. But the punch to the head of Buchnevich while he's down on the ice, that can't be tolerated.

Sorry, I don't buy that. Of course he knows he is engaging a psychopath when he gets into it. He saw Buchenvich helpless, his face to the ice, Wilson's stick under Buch's neck and Wilson punching him in the back of the head while he was helpless. It's not like Panarin was trying to "tangle" with Wilson. He jumped in to try to defend his teammate who was being assaulted.

FWIW, here it is in slow motion. He didn't just body slam Panarin, who Wilson easily has 50 pounds on. Wilson grabbed his hair to gain leverage and then he ragdolled him.

Neither one of us is going to have an objective opinion on this, so it's best to move on.

Another Caps fan who is tired of it. He's a talented player who doesn't have to be a goon, yet he chooses to be a goon.
I'd be fine if they moved on from him.
