    Sad news from one of the Caps' good guys (they do have quite a few) - T.J. Oshie's dad died. Explains his absence on this trip. Had Alzheimer's, was a big part of their Stanley Cup story

    I did not see the hair pulling. I didn't go back and watch it a million times. The bodyslam will happen when a guy has momentum and has 50 pounds on the other guy.

    Anyway, Wilson fined $5K, no suspension, it seems. That will infuriate anti-Tom Wilson twitter who would like to seen him banned for life and castrated in public view any time he hits anyone. Personally, I thought it merited a few games.

    Yup. I was already a puddled mess just from the win in 2018, then T.J. gave his dad the Stanley Cup and I basically sobbed. Really sad news.

    From Emily Kaplan, a former colleague and someone I respect. Now, I would have been quite fine with a suspension just because he has to stop his bullshit. I figured he was done for the regular season at least.

    The punch is the point to me. Buchnevich was helpless. Wilson was punching him in the back of the head, while he was pinned to the ice with Wilson's stick underneath his neck. He was doing it because the officials were focused on the scrum, so he saw an opportunity to be the cheap, dirty shitbag that he is. Saying he got fined for the punch, so that takes care of that, ignores the context of his history. ... and how dangerous he is.

    Wilson is a repeat offender --he's been suspended five times to date and should have been suspended for at least three games. That punch was on a completely helpless guy face down on the ice. Tom Wilson is a fine hockey player but he's the new Matt Cooke and falls under the category of "gutless puke".

    He won't do it, but Laviolette could send a hell of a message by benching Wilson for a game or two to get the message through his head that the next time he does something, it could be his last. I'm stunned he didn't get suspended for the rest of the regular season.
