Larry David had it right. "No hugging, no learning."

    Lucy
    All in the Family
    Honeymooners
    Seinfeld

that’s Mt. Rushmore. That’s the order. It’s not a debate.

king of the hill is better than Barney Miller? GTFO
Barney Miller was everything, social importance, political and most importantly smart and funny with an amazing cast.

I hate the way these things are posted. Post a list. Then devolve into an explanation
The Flinstones need to be there, I couldn’t find them but maybe I missed them, before some niche Comedy Central shows

is Sex and the City really a sitcom?

Leave it to Beaver and Fathers Knows Best are touchstones of TV Sitcoms

That Girl, Room 222 and Julia are every bit the social importance of Cosby.

BoJack Horseman at 20? Bull shit

too much recency bias and forced diversity. Atlanta v WKRP or Modern Family or Absolutely Fabulous?
Phil Silvers, Maude, Get Smart, The Odd Couple. Are way too low.

you may think the Brady Bunch is a kids show but the fact that 40 years later half the country can not sing the theme song but it gets spoofed still makes it important and funny. Marcia Marcia Marcia too 10 catch phrase from TV

Taxi’s What does a yellow light mean may be, with the Turkeys from WKRP, the single best sitcom scene in history.

Too many shows are put in because it’s Rolling Stone and they need ‘edgy’ and ‘cool niche’.
Broad based comedy is harder than targeting a narrow audience.

    Some notable omissions, IMHO:

    Green Acres
    Gilligan's Island
    Family Guy
    Brady Bunch
    Munsters

One more omission: The Beverly Hillbillies.

It was the top rated show in the country its first two seasons, top 10 in 5 of it's first seven season.

    Belongs in there somewhere.

I prefer shows without a laugh track. Which ones could stand on their own without the forced background laughter?

I haven't thought of "Dharma and Greg" in forever but you're right, it was a decent show. Jenna Elfman being easy on the eyes didn't hurt.

Agreed, but Pro Tip: later episodes are great white noise. You can put them on and do stuff and not pay attention and they’re pleasant to have in the background.

I liked "Wings" as much as I liked "Cheers,"
but I didn't even see "Wings" on this list.
It was a terrific ensemble comedy.

And "Soap" pulls only an 87? C'mon.

Some of the more dramatic episodes of "M*A*S*H" were done without laugh tracks.

I skimmed the list, so maybe I missed it, but what about Happy Days? And is Northern Exposure classified as a drama?

And oh by the way, The Cosby Show was never ever funny, at all.
