    Decades back, I went to a Sunday matinee in Chicago against the Red Wings. Second game of a back to back, first game the previous night. Don't recall what transpired that evening before, but the gloves came off as soon as the initial puck drop happened.

    Can't say I understand the Cap reaction here. Is it a surprise a team with absolutely nothing to play for this year decided to retaliate against a guy with a rap sheet a mile long for playing dirty? Time and time again, Wilson has shown himself to be the ultimate jagoff on the ice. He may as well wear a bullseye on his jersey for the rest of his career. Wilson has made the bed for the Caps, they all have to sleep in it.

    I mean, only the Penguins have done better against the Caps this season. The Rangers can and have beaten the Caps, go out there and beat their asses.

    You're not wrong. I don't argue this point. But they did not accomplish anything with their antics. A bunch of stupid little fights that got a bunch of guys sent to the box. So what?

    I’m sorry, I’ve been an asshole on this thread. At some point though, Tom Wilson is your guy if you’re a fan of his team, which I am. And when everyone says he should be drawn and quartered for a hit, you get a little defensive. It wasn’t good. He should have been suspended. He wasn’t. It is what it is. The Rangers statement was over the top, IMO. I’m glad Oshie scored the first goal for coach. Let s go.

    I have no dog in this fight, but Wilson should be suspended for the rest of this season including the playoffs at a minimum. I'd be in favor of a lifetime ban. He'll kill somebody out there if he isn't stopped. I know he's a fine player, but he's also a psychotic. For the sport's own good, he needs to be removed from it.

    That is not going to happen with the lineup they are down to. No Panarin, no Kreider, No Trouba, no Lindgren, among the injuries. That is not just 4 of their best players, Kreider, Trouba and Lindgren gave them almost all of their physicality. I get it that Kuznetsov and Ovie and whoever else are out, but the Rangers are particularly inexperienced with this lineup. They have had Morgan Barron and Zac Jones playing a lot of minutes tonight.

    I think THAT is a little harsh but I get it, for sure. I spend a lot of time wondering if the Caps should move on and I'd likely write that if I was still writing columns in D.C. Too many strikes.

    But like the Blues GM said after he drilled their guy in a PRESEASON GAME (his dumbest move yet and there are many), if they put him on the block every team will call. Every team. The Rangers would throw a parade if he ended up there.

    C'mon, you know that's wrong.

    He's about as hurt as I am - they told him to stay in the locker room. Caps are going to the playoffs. The Rangers are not. The points were made.
    As noted, I'm not a fan of Tom Wilson's antics, I'm tired of them. But he can definitely take it.
