Basically someone is going to have to end his career on the ice via frontier justice. That may not be the message the league wants to send, but it is the one they did send.

The league will never learn, it’s been 17 years since the Bertuzzi incident and nothings changed.

Allowing Wilson to do this brings back fighting and goons. If you’re cool with that, then support Wilson.

I’m fine with goons. I’m not fine with this.

There never been less “goons” then there are today.

Were you a Matt Cooke fan?

This would make a lot more sense and show some sense of consistency if they had properly punished Wilson.

The fact that this warranted a suspension and the crap that Wilson did not is flat-out insane. And Bettman can go screw himself by going after the Rangers and trying to defend George Parros.

The Rangers' posting that went after Parros and the Buchnevich suspension likely would never have existed had the league simple suspended Wilson for a while – at least two games or more, especially factoring in his dirty history – in the first place.

I think the fact that Colin Campbell and George Parros – bullies and goons – running that department is the problem. That Gary Bettman went after the Rangers for going after Parros is rich. Hey Gary ... if you want to make clear that it's your league and that you are really the commissioner, consider Tom Wilson's history and stop letting Campbell and Parros enable crap like this.

    It's not really that difficult.

Campbell still being employed is the biggest joke of any professional sports league in the world. But when the media is so in bed with the league, you really won’t get any tough questions about it.

Bettman’s a vindictive little man who does not like his “partners” to question him.

What did you mean when you said nothing has changed since the Bertuzzi incident?

Buch deserved to be suspended. Hell, he's lucky that Wilson or Chara or Mantha didn't beat him up, the way he was using his stick. As you said, he was never going to be playing unhinged and using his stick as a weapon if the league had just done the right thing re: Wilson. But I actually don't excuse it. If you want to fight, fight. But just taking cheap shots makes you like Tom Wilson.

Regarding the Rangers fine, the league had to do it. If you are going to put out a statement like that, you do it with the understanding that you are going to get fined, and you don't give a shit.

The league office has the same mentality. If they aren’t going to punish players, players will take it upon themselves.

Agree with everything ... but you know better than I do that Buch can't fight those guys. Wilson would have bludgeoned him, and Chara would have tossed him around like a rag doll, then chucked him up over the glass into the 10th row to provide the exclamation point.

Buchnevich made clear that he didn't appreciate what Wilson did, and that's fine. Should have stopped short of the blatant slashes. But, not to belabor the point, we know what caused this.
