That a no-hitter gets a grand total of 3 posts on the baseball thread shows how cheap they’ve become.

It was shortly before this season started that I made a comment to a friend that with the way pitching staffs were being managed (with the starter usually not going more than 5 or 6 innings, and increase in "bullpen games") and batters' new emphasis on taking a bunch of pitches solely to drive up the pitch count early in the game, complete-game no-hitters were probably going to become very rare.

Now we have had four of them in less than a month-and-a-half. Shows what an expert I am.

Seems like they are leaving pitchers in just because they have no-hitters where if they had given up a couple of hits or even a couple runs and were still pitching well, they would be removed.

Musgrove -- 112 pitches, hasn't topped 100 in any other game
Rodon -- 114 pitches, most of the season and only topped 100 in any other game (interestingly it was his next game, also against Cleveland, where he threw 110 pitches in five innings)
Means -- 113 pitches, 101 is his next highest this year
Miley -- 114 pitches, hasn't gone over 99 in any other game this year

A little more than 110 probably isn't too concerning. I wouldn't leave some cat like Edwin Jackson to throw damn near 150, unless you didn't give a shit about him being a reliable part of your staff going forward. Which obviously he wasn't.

Obviously the Nats don’t have a big stable of old players to find a new color guy.

I really, really like their radio guys. I think they’re outstanding. Bob and FP have grown on me.

But that broadcast group has absolutely zero bench, and when anyone takes a series off, the quality plummets.

So it’ll be interesting to see who they get, because I suspect FP has called his last game for MASN.

Maybe they can try Rob Dibble.

    Oh, wait ...

Let Jayson Werth drink a 12-pack of Coors and give him a headset.

Freaking bullpens. Dodgers led Angels 13-0 after 5 and pulled Kershaw, who was on short rest. Now its 14-11 in the eighth
