    Small sample size but maybe?

Has he played in the field recently?

Doesn’t make much sense other than him chasing another ring and the Dodgers adding another MVP to their roster.

20 games this year, almost as many as last year.

I wasn’t clear enough. I just meant if he ended his career then, he’s still one of the greats — and one of the best right-handed hitters in history.

Offensively, Pujols started out OK, but descended rapidly his last few weeks. When his batting average dropped below .200, you knew it was bad. He was popping up, hitting into double plays again. The announcers started making excuses for him (as they are doing for Trout, Rendon and Upton now) and hyping every good swing as the one that will turn him around.

Defensively, his glove is still good, but his range and movements are not. About a month ago, he grabbed a grounder and tried to start a 3-6-3 double play. But he threw a lollipop to the shortstop, who was already past the base when the ball got there. The return throw to first got away from Pujols. Also, in one of his last games with the Angels, his footwork was messed up, he got in Fletcher's way and the ball went into right field. One grounder went under him because he didn't bend down far enough. He is the slowest runner in baseball. With all of the shifting that is now required, there are times the first baseman has to play about a third of the way to second. He is too slow to retreat to first on a grounder to another infielder.

By the way, it you hadn't noticed, the Angels are in last place. They are 16-22 and in a 9-19 skid after a 7-3 start and have lost 4 in a row. As I posted earlier, Trout has dropped from about .460 to .336 in less than 2 weeks. He is in something like a 3 for 26 slump, but the announcers are saying that he is still getting his walks, so he is still seeing the ball well.

This guy covered baseball and gave you this brilliant breakdown.

Regression laughs at Trout hitting 450 for the year.

Sorry, I missed your analysis on Pujols. And I missed your observation that Trout would drop more than .120 points in 2 weeks.
This is a national board, which means that most of the members in the east have no idea what is happening the west. Somebody asked if Pujols was being used on defense recently. Proof they weren't paying attention. Yes, he was.
So, if drunk-posting and being belligerent are your goals for a Saturday night, you've succeeded.

No. You are misremembering your plays.
Ohtani almost got hurt on a dropped 3rd strike that led to a Keystone Kops sequence.
Ohtani 'feels fine' after scary freak play

Pujols sucks, but he wasn't involved in that play.
