    Posting through the pain.

“What if I told you a gift basket wasn’t the only thing you’d get for lasting six hours telling Derek Jeter he’s better than he really was?”

The problem there is the owners of high-revenue franchises like their built-in advantage over the likes of the Pirates, so they are going to continue to put their own self-interest ahead of the good of the game. MLB should have had a salary floor a long time ago. It has always needed one more than it needs a salary cap, but I will believe it happens when I see it.

They can dedicate a full episode on how he didn't really catch that ball in the stands. Another episode on how little range he had.

Salary floors go hand in hand with salary caps and salary caps/floors go hand in hand with players sharing a percentage of the revenues. The MLBPA has been adamantly averse to anything that approximates a salary cap so I doubt a salary floor or a sharing of revenues - including incremental revenue from expanded playoffs - is likely to happen in the upcoming CBA.

That's the thing. They actually don't need a cap to have a floor. That's a bullshit story told by the owners.
