Piggybacking on this - it's never been easier to make your own drone, or, to fuck up making your own drone. I kind of have a feeling that that's what a bunch of these UFOs are. If aliens exist and somehow have FTL travel or some other technology to make it feasible to get to Earth, they also probably have the technology to monitor or observe us without resorting to fly-bys and upsetting the locals.

That presupposes that any alien would consider human beings worthy to observe. If you were to observe earth 40,000 years ago would you really make your presence known? And why would you care? Bunches of living barbaric creatures barely able to survive.
