    Ed Hospodar?

One indelible memory from when I was a kid, was Clark Gillies dropping Ed Hospodar with one punch. A broken jaw and a lot of blood, and I believe some serious surgery required to keep his face looking like a semblance of a face. I don't hear the name Ed Hospodar often, but every time I do, I think of Clark Gillies.

Things I just learned today: Gillies and Bob Bourne were both in the Houston Astros' farm system.

Add this one. ... Bourne's son is married to Gillies' daughter.

They are both from Saskatchewan, as is Terry Puhl, who had a nice career with Houston. Must have been a scouting connection.

Canada was a real baseball wasteland then. Lots of kids grew up playing fastpitch.

One time he was asked about a nickname for his line with Bryan Trottier and Mike Bossy
He said: “How about the Gillies line?”

Caps' window is officially closed. Welcome to life as the Los Angeles Kings. Congrats on a good series win, Bruins.

I just tweet-raged it all out of my system and now I'm done with hockey for the year.

At this point one more regulation goal by the Canes would be humane. Don’t make me wait an extra hour for this execution.

The room still gets dusty when I see this. You know how some rosters will always be "That Team" for you?
This is mine. I'm always happy for whoever raises the cup, but this one means the most.

Whalercanes suddenly think that a procession to the box is a freaking requirement. A team that used to be really disciplined thinks that penalties by the bunch are cool. With no Jaccob Slavin, to boot.

Thank goodness the Preds haven't converted. I think it's now 15-for-16 on the PK ... the lone goal on a 5-on-3 after Warren Foegele was shipped off for delay of game quickly followed by Jordan Staal for tripping.
