Canes vs. whichever Sunshine State team in the second round is cruel, kind of like the year the Preds and Jets traded blows in the same round (and then Winnipeg had nothing left in the tank for Vegas in the WCF.)

The Predators-Hurricanes series is not over.

The Panthers and Lightning have to be encouraged that their series isn't the only one that will just about knock out the survivor. Florida's comeback in Game 3 gives it hope that Tampa doesn't simply dumptruck the Panthers en route to the next round.

At least Carolina stayed out of the penalty box in the first overtime. But how much of that was Rod Brind'Amour urging them to cut that crap out during intermission and how much of it is the officials basically swallowing their whistles after the 60-minute mark?

Predators and Capitals have equal chances of winning their first round series: Zero

Edmonton is a flawed team, but I'm stunned they are down 2-0. Jets were a mess down the stretch.

After what they did during the season, keeping McDavid and Draisaitl off the scoresheet for the first two games is a huge accomplishment. I'm sure Winnipeg was just hoping to slow McDavid down a little. Connor Hellebuyck has been real good.

Blackhawks bounced them last year in the play-in round. If McDavid is bounced early again, that’s the start of a pattern.

I know the guy in Tampa (not going to try and spell his name) gets all the love and deservedly so but you could convince me pretty easily that Hellebuyck is the best keeper in hockey.

I know who is NOT the best keeper in hockey but I'm not going down that path. I'm done this year. Every year but 2018, I have picked a team to bandwagon once the Caps were bounced, just to maintain some interest. I have not done that this year, don't think I will.

I'm kind of with you there. Problem is of the teams left, I don't care for many of them. I could get behind Colorado. But I despite Boston, Pittsburgh, the Isles, Carolina, Tampa and Vegas. That's a huge chunk of the remaining field. Kind of meh toward the Canadian teams.

I'm still irrationally angry about that effort last night. I don't care if you lose, at least fucking act like you care. Boston's good enough. You don't need to hand it to them. Bruins hardly had to work.

So, I shouldn't expect either of you to root for the Penguins if the Capitals are eliminated? :)

Gonna call it now. The Preds go to seven with the Canes.
