I still think if Watson finishes off the Open in 2009, it’s the greatest.

No doubt in my mind. Partially because, damn, find me a golf fan who didn't die a little with Watson that day (even though Watson had one of the great opening lines in the press conference, reminding the shocked reporters that no one died). If Phil had blown it today it would have been lousy, yet well within his character.

Norman leading after 54 in 2008, strolling the fairways with Evert, was a real trip. That would have been the weirdest ever win.

    30 on the back nine?

1986 Masters is the only correct answer.

Meanwhile I have “Live From...” on the Golf Channel and they showed Koepka pissed off that his knee got banged up in the scrum heading up 18. Chamblee goes on some diatribe about how he would be more popular if he didn’t curse on the golf course, and he could learn a lot from Phil. Has anyone bothered telling Brandel that the most popular golfer of the last 25 years cursed like a fucking sailor?

Maybe we will get a 30 for 30 on Phil’s gambling issues.

Chamblee, again, comes of as an idiot.

Great tournament. Congrats to Phil. On to Torrey.

I used to think Chamblee was one of the sharper voices (and golf media doesn't have nearly enough) but he's lost it the last couple years.

And puh-lease re: Koepka. The guy is a serious big game hunter. No one wins every major when they're in the hunt but Koepka has the best batting average since Eldrick.

Might well have been. Stinks that Toooom – as they call him across the pond – couldn't quite finish it off.

Koepka's knee wasn't an issue today. He played the course pretty GD stupid. On one second shot I think he hit a 7 - with the knee, remember - from some mediocre lie and God himself wouldn't have got there with that club and it landed 30/40 yards short of wherever he intended it. The second shot at 7 was strange, too.

Great weekend. Phil played the course so smart, attacking early, limiting mistakes (for him, anyway) on the final six holes. No reason he can't win another major this summer. Don't think he will, but no reason he can't.
