The media has taken a beating in the last 25 years for its lack of balance - spearheaded by Fox News’ fevered dream work that continues today. I think there’s quite a bit of salience in the argument.

    Alma-

It's a bit of a problem when people consider comedians (you decide whether they're funny or not) like Oliver and Stewart some of our greatest newspeople.

It's the mark of an industry failure more than anything.

    Agreed. Though I like Oliver.

The success of Glenn Beck, a fairly unfunny man on top of being, right around 2008, seemingly close to a nervous breakdown, was an even worse indictment.

Brief update - just got notified by the Red Cross that my recent blood donation tested positive for antibodies - 99 percent certain it was the vaccine...but maybe I was a tad too harsh in my judgement about workers who contract COVID. :)
On the other hand, read a report that many members of the armed services are balking at the vaccine. Sent off to fight for some cause that means nothing to you - you're all in - getting a shot that can protect you from a deadly disease....are you crazy?

    Alma-
I hear you but Beck is far from the worst in his phylum, IMO.

Recovering alcoholic and cocaine addict who has described himself as borderline schizophrenic- the guy hates himself more than anyone else could (as has said such).
Glenn Beck: How he recovered his life and his free will

Between me and you, I think Bannon's darkly brilliant and would listen to his show for entertainment purposes in a different timeline than this one. Glenn Beck? No.

Beck looks upon Howard Beale with some cockeyed admiration. Strange.

The underlying article is very thoughtful and thorough. Don’t really see what value Silver’s tweet adds, but I thank you for putting me onto this.
