Unfortunately missed it. There are a few players like that who can make me feel excited about hockey just when I worry about getting jaded.

The Habs are terrible. Bergevin can’t be fired soon enough. He still doesn’t grasp that defensemen are critical to creating offense. Montreal has two players who can carry the puck reliably - Petry and Suzuki. Just a bizarre roster construction.

FWIW McGuire was arguing that the Panthers should start Knight right out of the gate.

I suppose I'll find myself rooting for Trotz tonight. Hearkens back to the era of good feeling in D.C.

I’m rooting for the Islanders because I love hearing the announcers say “Clutterbuck”.

The only place the Canadiens look good is on paper. On the ice it’s a disaster. Ottawa would have been a more worthy playoff team and if the season had been a bit longer longer the Sens would have caught them. A terrible waste of a great year from Toffoli and in the last few weeks of the season they were by far the worst team in North division.

I grew up in the shadow of the Colliseum during the Bossy, Trottier, Potvin days. ... and I am rooting for the Pens. Two reasons: 1) I watched a lot of the Islanders this year, and while I respect Trotz's coaching, and how disciplined that team is. ... they are just not fun to watch. They can only succeed by making ugly hockey games. I don't know how you root for that, unless it is your team. 2) I actually liked Boston to come out of the east (not as a sure thing, by any means) heading into the playoffs. That perfection line is as good as there is in the NHL, but they don't just rely on skill. That teams scraps. I watched those Boston-Washington games thinking it was just good, hard-fought playoff hockey. And I don't think the Islanders can beat Boston with its formula of trying to score first and then trying to kill 50 minutes by clogging up the neutral zone. Pittsburgh is more skilled, and I think they will make the Boston series tougher than the Islanders, so I am hoping they can somehow win 2 in a row. I can't believe I am saying that, because I hate the Penguins.

Come on, say it with me.

    Clutterbuck.

I can't stand him, including the name! ... but as @Moderator1 would tell me, I'd take him on my team in a second. In his case, it's really true. I think he's overpaid by the Islanders, but he's a really valuable player (showing how the fourth line can make a difference), and as long as I am not the one who has to cut the checks. ... He's just what the Rangers could use, actually.

Ha! I remember him from Junior days and loved his name. Always made me smile (except when he obliterated my team, of course).

    Okay.

    “Clusterfuck”

That always feels good to say that. Makes a bad situation feel better.

So, you were watching Vancouver play hockey at 10 pm ET? Wow. Or were you just watching the scoreboard? Or listening to the same people who had Calgary contending for the N division title?
They missed Pettersen far more than Montréal missed Gallagher.
