Can't find the damned travel thread again, so ... Boston?

I'm not sure how active the scalpers are around the stadium now, but if you don't mind missing an inning or two, you can get in for face value or lower on game day. Then again, the team has a winning record again, which might mean even the scalpers aren't having trouble moving product.

I'm thinking about paying face for the Saturday game and maybe trying to get a deal at the last minute on Sunday. I fear that like most teams, the Sox have probably gone to all-digital ticketing (more COVID theater), which probably kills off most of the situation you're describing.

That said, I might just settle for one game and just taking a tour on a quiet weekday or something. Somehow in the planning process, I had fooled myself into thinking the Monster Seats were a feasible "splurge" option but that was laughably stupid on my part. The left field line outcropping still might appeal to me if for no other reason to celebrate (not to reenact) the "Here comes the pizzer!" incident.

I would make sure the rental car situation is squared away before flying into an out of state airport. Those are supposed to be outrageously high and hard to find this summer.

I'm flying into Logan and will probably be without wheels by choice while I'm in the city. Taking Amtrak to the family reunion stuff in Maine, which I'm kind of geeked about. Might get a car up there, might rely on relatives. My Mom's a Mainer but I haven't been since the late 90s.

Our rental car is costing more than our flights. Fun times!

If you’re looking for diversity, go to the McDs downtown or head south :) it’s not in town.

Mike’s Pastry isn’t bad, but Bova Bakery and Modern Pastry are just as worthy if not more so.

Santarpio’s, a five-minute cab ride from the airport, is better than Regina IMO, but you can’t go wrong with either.

The Mass Ave bridge view is great, but my favorite view of the city is from a boat in the harbor. You rarely get it unless you commute in by ferry. I’ll occasionally take the ferry in just to see that view.

Faneuil Hall/Quincy Market is a tourist trap, but it’s a historic one.

If you want to spend an afternoon relaxing a relatively short distance from Boston, you could do much worse than walking around and bumming around on Spectacle Island. If you want to get somewhere less crowded, there are water taxi-like boats that run between Spectacle and the smaller harbor islands.

Enjoy the trip. I still haven’t done Amtrak to Maine, but that box could get ticked this summer.

Total agreement on Santarpio's. Also Spectacle Island.

Exhibit A and Jack's Abbey are in lovely downtown Framingham, less than 30 minutes from Boston.

On the South Shore, anywhere along the Irish Riviera is nice. The South Coast is nice. Marion is beautiful and New Bedford has the Whaling Museum. Also, you can spend a day riding bikes on Martha's Vineyard.

On the North Shore, Marblehead is my favorite.
