I didn't realize Mayne was even still on the air.

I barely realize ESPN is on the air. Sportscenter is ponderous, trying to seem clever while failing at the only thing it should, giving scores and highlights quickly.

Kind of nice to see Kenny Mayne get a "walk off" exit from ESPN. Seriously, the network really should have had him do a podcast. Talk to the Balls about their crappy shoes, Bryce Harper about why he sucks now, LeBron and Tom Brady about their "hair." Belichick about his favorite sideline attire. Mike Greenberg about how much he and Mike Golic hate each other - I'd subscribe immediately.

Put your foot in a bucket of water and take it out. The hole you leave is how much Mayne -- or anyone -- will be missed.

Right after Kilborn left. The Big Show, Olbermann and Patrick. A young Stuart Scott. Baseball Tonight with Peter Gammons' Diamond Notes. Big Monday. Super Tuesday. Just before the internet really took over, and expanded our options to kill time at home beyond cable TV.

Today, College GameDay at its best is still quality, as is their Grand Slam tennis (no coincidence those are both Chris Fowler). I don't watch enough of their major golf, but I've heard good things.

It's amazing how quaint those things now are.

NFL Prime Monday was the best pregame show I've ever seen.
