If it does not have a drive thru, then that’s an unfair advantage.

Anyone travelling I-5 between California and Oregon, be sure to plan your travel schedule around Yak's in Dunsmuir - south south of Mount Shasta - and thank me later.

The only one I haven't been to is Shake Shack (although I have never had a burger at Culver's). I guess Shake Shack has to be pretty good to make the list. Five Guys is good but way too pricey.

    In-N-Out gets my vote.

Does the express lane it takes through your colon count?

Always heard people raving about Five Guys, so when they finally opened one around here The Wife and I ate there. From that day forward, Five Guys became forever known in our house as "Diarrhea Burger."

Just going through this simple bracket I'd have it as In-N-Out vs. Five Guys, with In-N-Out easily winning.

It's an interesting bracket. Of all the social media back and forth there is out there on this topic -- and surprisingly I see a lot, but maybe part of it is In-N-Out has arrived in my neck of the woods -- you especially see the In-N-Out-Whataburger banter. Yet they are on the same side of the bracket. If you flipped where Whataburger and Five Guys are, it would be an In-N-Out-Whataburger final. I'd still have In-N-Out, but I get the conflict, especially from the basically available only in a few areas and cult status of each.

I also see Five Guys mixed in with both often and I honestly don't get it. I like Five Guys but it's apples and oranges. Not traditional fast food in my mind, which the other two definitely are, slower, although I honestly don't think the quality is much different, while still a basic menu it's different with all the different toppings, plus it is so damn expensive. I can buy like three times the In-N-Out, and like it better, than I can for one Five Guys. I have a hard time comparing them because of those things.

And an edit, I think I need to think more if I'd even have Five Guys beating Culver's.

I could have sworn that I've seen at least one with a takeout window, but it could have been a pandemic thing. I do know that you can order ahead, which isn't as great as it seems, because they won't make your fries until you actually get there. So, you still have to stand around for 5 minutes while they finish your order.

Regarding its presence in this tournament, I think it's fine, it just means you have to factor it into your rating. I think Five Guys does a no-frills burger really well, but it's pretty much a killer to your daily calorie count, even more than shit like a Big Mac or a Whopper. I'd rather have one of Carl Jr's or Whataburgers disgusting, custom burgers instead, if I'm going to blow my calories out with one meal.

Bad luck for you. I've been to a couple about 50 times in the last 10 years without issue.

Final 4 is Carl’s vs In n Out and Five Guys vs Wendy’s (honestly, I could take or leave any of those places that could come out of that part). And Five Guys over In n Out in the finals.

Wendy's vs. Steak N' Shake is a very interesting first-round battle, but the problems Steak N' Shake has had as a company and the notorious shitty service (at least in the Ohio ones) gets me to vote for Wendy's. Burger vs. burger, that's a close call.

Culver's and Wendy's are my two favorites that I can judge. I has Whataburger 15 years ago on a Texas trip and remember it being awesome, but I can't specifically remember anything, really -- like Burger King, but actually good a fair description of Whataburger? A friend was in Texas in the spring for a funeral and I told him to go there and he loved it.

I had In-N-Out six years ago on a trip to SoCal. It was okay, but I think Wendy's and Culver's are just as good. Why it draws the same constant crowds that Chick Fil A does I don't understand -- but I don't understand Chick Fil A, either, and would much rather get a chicken elsewhere (including Wendy's).

I'm heading to NoCal in two weeks for two weeks and will revisit In-N-Out while there.

The secret menu sets In n Out apart. The burger was good, not spectacular. The customer service is close to Chick-fil-A levels, but nowhere is near as fast.
