In n Out’s speed of service suffers from the place being so popular. Burgers are made fresh which is fine unless you are No. 59 and they are announcing 16.

And you’re right about the secret menu. The customizations make it great. Their fries are well behind other places but the burgers are really good.

Okay, guys, help a Midwesterner -- what's this secret menu?

Also, you gotta eat the fries right away. After 10 minutes, they aren't good anymore.

I had Fuddruckers once - it was awful. I'd eat a shitburger before I'd eat another one of those.

It's been years since I had a burger at any one of these places (no snob, many aren't even around here). With the exception of a few very high end places, there isn't a restaurant on the Cape without a burger on the menu, some quite good. For fast food, we have Kreme n' Kone, which does excellent burgers and absolutely excellent fries and my personal vice, onion rings. Since fried seafood is it's main menu item, the oil gets changed frequently, which keeps flavor fresh. It's a local chain, like 3-4 outlets. Certainly superior to McD's, Burger King, Wendy's, Sonic, etc, the low end of the fast food chain.

In-n-Out had me for a few years, but most recently I went home to Whataburger because of their all-time favorites.

I guess Freddy's didn't make it out of Dayton either. Nor did Braum's, which is a very underrated burger. Jack's has slipped and is vulnerable, and BK has definitely slipped.

Freddy's and In-n-Out are my two favorite and it's not even close otherwise. Freddy's maybe just doesn't have the name recognition, even regionally, yet?

I believe there's one Freddy's in my quarter of Ohio. I was there once several years ago and it was good, but I remember thinking it was very similar to Culver's and not quite as good.

Shake Shack is awesome ... I make a point to stop at the one downtown in D.C. when I go to Caps or Wizards games. Really good smash burger, which are my favorites.

Freddy's made it out of Dayton. I ran across a couple when I was in Phoenix for a spring-training trip. They also have four locations in California.
Haven't eaten there, although I did have dinner at Culver's during one of those Phoenix trips; the burger I ate was actually very good.

I had 5 Guys today. I like 5 Guys much better when I haven’t had one in a while. After having 1 I’m always a little disappointed, maybe the expectations fail to meet reality. The lettuce and tomato are always fresh which makes it good.

I like shake shack but the burgers are too small. I can eat a few.
