Should be interesting to see if she plays in the Tokyo Olympics this summer.

The Hall of Fame's second chance at an induction crowd of 100K will be Ichiro's induction in 2025 (you know, barring more global pandemics and what not). Mariners fans were already talking about the potential transcontinental crowd during Edgar Martinez's induction in 2019.

It was an incredibly stupidly-worded question.

And Gauff not only answered it, she came off as poised and really mature for her age.

For me, that doesn't vindicate Osaka's media boycott. It actually demonstrated how Osaka could aspire to handle the occasional stupid question that she's going to face.

Some might be surprised how often interview subjects understand the gist of a question and find a way to answer a garbled mess – not to be confused with bad, stupid or loaded question.

While I don't condone bad or stupid questions, threatening to boycott the media is not the answer.

Now having said that ... I hope Osaka finds the help she seeks/needs/feels. It's a delicate topic and some understanding from both sides could go a long way.

Today the head of the French tennis association refused to take questions about Osaka or anything else. So fuck him and fuck tennis organizations.

Osaka clearly has mental and emotional health issues which she traces back to the 2018 US Open. What happened there to trigger it?
The press conference issue is, at best, a minor point. She suffers from anxiety and depression. I hope she gets the help she needs and does it quietly.
