As someone whose father loved the CB craze (more than once, the antenna on our '79 Pinto station wagon got caught under the garage door when he tried to go in), this song particularly resonates:

So, I've mentioned on other threads my love for Pluto TV. The channel I watch the most is the VEVO 70s music channel. There's is one video I became obsessed with. They seem to rotate the playlist every few weeks, but this one video stays in heavy rotation even when the other videos turn over:

It's amazing-- the outfits! The oddly... aggressive choreography! The thing on his head! And the keyboardist and drummer can't actually be part of the band, right? So I fell down a Heatwave internet rabbit hole. Yes, that's really their drummer. He's a Hungarian guy named Bilbo. And the keyboardist? Yes, he's part of the band, and he wrote this song. His name is Rod Temperton. Not only did he write "Boogie Nights," but he also wrote "Thriller," "Off the Wall" and "Rock With You" for Michael Jackson and "Give Me The Night" for George Benson. He looks about 60 in the video but he was only 27.

And when I went looking for the video I found this:

WTF? Appears to be the same video -- same stage layout, same weird production, same dance, same thing on his head -- but they're wearing different outfits.

By the way, "Boogie Nights" peaked at number two on the US charts. Damn you, Debby Boone.

The guy with the thing on his head looks a bit like Jamie Foxx giving the entire thing the feel of an In Living Color bit.

    Yeah she did ;)

(please forgive me. I’m sure your mom’s a fantastic, wholesome woman who deserves better than that joke)

People are confusing "one-hit wonders" with artists who had one massive hit and a string of lesser hits. Those are not the same things. I have the Billboard book.
