    Is the shift toward "race" among conservatives a reflection of the decline in church goers in America? Heck most Republicans are cool with three-quarters of LGBT. It's down to Guns, Race and Trump at this point.

    Whites are a declining demographic. Not just in the U.S., but across the world. In the U.S., the majority of people under the age of 16 were nonwhite in 2019, and it is a trend that is going to keep accelerating. We're essentially browning from the bottom up. And even though a lot of working class whites, rednecks, etc. (what "conservatives" means now) may not know the actual numbers behind the demographic shift, it's a trend that has been decades in the making and they can feel the tide turning. They find it threatening, especially as economically they have largely felt left behind. And it's why Trump's veiled and not-so-veiled racism resonated with them.
