It ends on time if Lexi hangs on to a 5 shot lead

Does NASCAR update the points list after each race? Aren’t there fail MLB standings? I’ve never heard a baseball radio broadcast that didn’t give a team’s standing with games ahead or behind with every post-game. What’s the problem here?

It was one player from Japan and the winner from the Philippines. And I’d wager gymnastics gets a higher rating with women than women’s golf.

We've gone over this. The MLB standings pave the way to the world series.

The Fed Ex playoffs are nothing of importance to the four majors - except for the winner's bank account.

Nobody but the corporate sponsors give a shit about how many fed ex points this week is worth.

    From the story:

Would the men’s U.S. Open have been dumped in a playoff?

Of course not. And the men also would not be sent out from both tees, in threesomes, with the last group at 10:35 a.m.

When the programmers plotted this out months ago, they had to consider a potential playoff. NBC played with fire and got burned big time.

Don’t discount the number of Republicans and Trumpies on the Tour in explaining the 50%. But there probably will be a rush to vaccinate because even if they’re a COVID or vax denier, the Tour isn’t and they could be the next to kiss a million bucks goodbye.

The FedEx Cup is the PGA Tour’s championship. Same as a World Series or NASCAR’s Cup championship.

I couldn't help but stare at Rahm's caddie as Rahm got the news.

$100k down the drain like *that*.

While I don't at all agree with it, it's pretty simply.

The U.S. Open was in a playoff with a Filipino and a Japanese golfer, neither of whom are household names to casual fans.

U.S. Gymnastics, OTOH, has Simone Biles.

Nothing at all against Biles, but shouldn't have done that. They had gymnastics on CNBC. Not perfect, but beats telling viewers their only alternative was livestream for those whose cable/satellite/streaming packages include CNBC.

(Also, how long until they try to kick everything over to Peacock?)

Just ask Peter Kostis and Gary McCord.

So they'll likely do the same thing that the more high-profile sorts on the Right have probably done ... get vaccinated, just not declare so publicly to make sure they let everyone know that the pandemic is all about politics instead of health and science.

True enough. The outrage is that the Tour has its broadcast partners in such a headlock that the points are mentioned at every turn and if you dropped in from Mars you wouldn't know that the top finishers every week also get wheelbarrows full of cash. If the FedEx was relevant to the average fan, you'd see the points regularly on the ESPN ticker and elsewhere.
