Boy That looks like he touched the plate. If that’s in MLB I think that gets overturned

How the hell do you manage that? This isn't some guy who was only in the majors due to injuries. This is the new face of the franchise, the son of a former major leaguer.

Some dusty newsroom somewhere we were talking baseball and I noted, after some odd play, that it happened on the anniversary of Merkle's boner, and it occurred to me that the only way I can use the word "boner" in polite company is in that context, lest the sexual harassment police be released.

Recall when McGwire hit No. 62, he went back to retouch first. That's all the runner needed to do there.

Yup. That is why the first base coach also deserves a little criticism for not noticing it, but really, it is an inexcusable mistake by Hayes. That said, it was another nice piece of hitting.

James Karinchak’s spin rate was the lowest its ever been the appearance after this all came out.

I'm a little confused here (well, more than usual). How is tagging the plate become an out when it's not a force play or he's not tagging up and leaving early? Does it become a matter of considering Witt running out of the baseline or something?

If you miss a base/plate and leave the field of play, a team only needs to touch the base/plate to appeal.

I watched that five times. I don't see him missing the plate.

New book sez 'Stros cheated into 2019.

Since MLB let them keep their WS title, I'd say the scheme was wildly successful.

Waiting for Cole to unravel tonight.
