Would like to see the REST of the lyrics had he gone with Massachusetts. Since little in the real version seems to fit (other than "Life is old there" I guess).

Thanks, guess I got it mixed up that he was in Maryland when writing it.

Well, got magazine open now and it says

“...was actually inspired by a rural lane in Maryland. (Danoff and Nivert) started writing the song about Maryland but changed locale to make the rhyme scheme work.”

Actually, they charted again with "Don't Call Us We'll Call You" in 1975, which is another damn good song.

"Boogie Oogie Oogie" by A Taste of Honey.

Beautiful women playing their own instruments. I'm in. I think they had a minor hit with Sukiyaki in the early 80s, but this was their one HIT.

I'm surprised no one mentioned this one from 1970. Definitely a one-hit band, but a hell of a hit it was.

Great God in Heaven you know I love this song.

    And for something different

    And yet another version

I’ve posted this before, but they beat Elvis Costello for the Grammy for Best New Artist. Costello held a grudge for years and named one of his greatest hits albums, A Taste of Honey, as a reminder.

There's a FB meme saying that whatever song was No. 1 on your 7th birthday is how your year will go or something to that effect.

This was No. 1 on my 7th birthday in '78. I love it the radio version.

    The original is fantastic.

Tom Jones, backed by a fantastic band and stage.

Sammy Davis, what the hell is that? I guess that's what passed as "a cool dude" in '75 but not sure today.

I think that Sammy clip is from 1970 or 1971. His stage walk is everything.

It's 1983 but as we've discussed, 1982-83 had that weird sort of stippling effect where there were multiple genres and diverse artists in the Top 40.
Even some intrepid remnants of disco were still going on.
So musically, I don't view the 1970s ending until 1984.
