It was fine when the problem was Catholic priests. A lot of those people are card carrying Q freaks who should be devoted to rooting out child sexual abuse.

Would not be surprised to see it reversed in the morning when the full convention votes (today was the executive committee - the same group being accused.) It still remains an open disgrace that defiles the Gospel.

    Goin’ great!

That would be an encounter between the furthest-right candidate for SBC president and one of the most prominent abuse victims who has helped lead the accountability movement.

I hesitate to post this here - instead of the politics thread - but given it’s about the Southern Baptists …

Let's be clear though - it isn't like the SBC is growing, they're just cooking off less conservative of the lot.

I’m pretty sure that the shift had a lot to do with Obama being from Hawaii and the whole pineapple-on-pizza controversy. “Jesus never ate pineapple on his pizza!”

Obama didn’t really take a firm no-pineapple-on-pizza position until he was out of office.

Technically my contribution to that graph didn’t come until 2017 even though I was out the door for good by 2011. If you just stop coming but don’t ever move your membership elsewhere (or they know you aren’t dead), most churches will leave you on the rolls forever.

The Christian religion is directly responsible for slavery and genocide in the Western Hemisphere, for maintaining slavery with n America after it was outlawed in Mexico, Central and South America.
That African Americans can be christians is beyond my comprehension

It’s not a conservative liberal divide. It’s racist thugs v semi-rational people. These people aren’t conservative, they are not trying to maintain any status quo or progress slowly or conserve resources or money or even have the government do less. These are extremists who are haven’t been able to get beyond pay check to pay check, welfare check to welfare check, in generations. The former white trash sharecroppers. Fuck’m , they are the lowest form of human.

SBC presidential election happening as we speak. Already accusations of rigged elections flying on the #sbc21 hashtag.
