I'm old enough to remember when blacks and whites ate in different parts of the student commons. Long after integration.

At a time some would call one of "unity"

Resolution rejected to attack Critical Race Theory by name and essentially repeal 2019 resolution that did not completely trash it Fox News style. In the arcane ways of the SBC, this is considered a defeat for the hardest-right faction.

Runoff for SBC President between the furthest-right candidate and the one with the most conciliatory tone towards women and minorities (but still, ya know, really conservative.) High drama in Nashville.

Oooh. Because the SBC has never before rescinded a resolution, and this was the first time anyone can remember a proposal to do such a thing, a different pastor is offering up one to rescind the 1860s resolution pledging the denomination’s full support for the Confederacy.

Ed Litton- the candidate not looking to go on culture warpath each day - wins the runoff 52-48. So they are Sunni Baptists for another year instead of Shiite.

If we're rescinding Southern Baptist history, let's undo our link to the Confederacy

Meanwhile, SBC CEO Rev. Ronnie Floyd looks like the proverbial deer caught in the headlights, although the metaphor they actually used was much better.
