Massachusetts is following in the footsteps of other states with a vax lottery, even though the vax rate is so high.

    1. Apparently it’s open to anyone who’s been vaccinated, even if it was months ago.

    2. Is this the best use of state money? No. So much for our fiscally conservative governor. Maybe the money was floated by some private interest, who knows.

2a. The one part that did make sense is they are offering college scholarships to minors. Given that the vaccine just got approved for them, it’s a good idea and will help some kids and perhaps persuade skeptical parents.

We're doing that here. Five $1 million winners. And $50,000 scholarships. For us, the money comes from the CARES Act and it would have been used in advertising to get people vaccinated.

Vaccination rates are up 8% since they announced the lottery, or so we're told. Also, the first two winners were a health care worker and a woman from a family that did not get vaccinated but then decided to do so. Not saying "how convenient" but .... how convenient.

Eh - I kind of bet there's a decent overlap between people who regularly play the lottery, and people who aren't vaccinated. Both would apply to the one holdout that I know of, when it comes to my immediate family.

Kind of a cross-thread with the general politics, but - A Houston, TX reporter for a FOX affiliate made news on Monday when she announced on air that she was being muzzled, and to tune into Project Veritas, the James O'Keefe-led propaganda site, for the "real truth." Station shitcanned her, and according to the Houston Chronicle, the dispute is over... her not being allowed to do reports on hydroxychloroquine: Project Veritas releases video of Fox 26 reporter Ivory Hecker alleging corruption, censorship

Ran around most of the day and it seemed the same. Have a vacation week this week so don't know what it's like at the store. A friend told me the rule, as of last night, was employees need to be masked, but customers can be unmasked.

Saw a few customers and people arrive at different places. It’s probably 85 to 90 percent still wearing masks. At the store it was higher. Went for drinks and it was lower. So Bay Area is still adherent. We’ll see if it stays.

Got Pfizer 2. The first tech was great. I didn't even feel the shot. The joker I saw on Monday hurt! I bled through the bandage and still have a palm-sized bruise on my arm. On the plus side, the first shot made me feel better after a couple of days. This one will hopefully do the same. As much as I hate to admit it, Eric Clapton is right about PN and the vax. Counting on being closer to normal by Thursday.

I’m downtown and people still masked inside and some outside. Ever time I think I’m going to stop I feel like “put it on”

I am worried it will re(-re)-mutate and come back as dangerous to kids.

If nothing else it has shown a remarkable ability to evolve. All it does is make copies of itself.

Wait, you got No. 1 on Monday and the second one today?
Or was Monday a different poke?
